Στέλιος Σωτηριάδης Abstract The objective of this thesis is to create a smart home management system on the cloud, which offers users a service from which they can manage and control their homes remotely and any given moment by making use of the concepts of Cloud computing and the Internet of Things and their capabilities. The system uses existing GEs, GEs implemented for the purpose of this thesis and computing resources provided by Cloud infrastructure and web pages to provide these services to the users through a Graphical User Interface. The implemented system's application consists of several web services which utilize the components mentioned above to provide users with the ability to manage their smart homes remotely through a Graphical User Interface. Users can manage several aspects of their home, such as controlling the operation of its devices, managing certain aspects of their operation, utilizing the provided capability for automatic control of their home and managing the home's users and basic information. They can also receive useful information about their home, including information about several aspects of the devices' operation, notifications about important device updates and basic information about the home and its users. For the purpose of testing and demonstrating the functionality of this system, several computer programs were implemented to simulate the home’s devices and appliances, as well as the access point to which they are connected and through which communication with our system is implemented.
