Abstract
The biggest global concern of 2022-2023 is the huge increase of prices as a consequence of unforeseen circumstances, like the Covid-19 epidemic for the last 3 years and the wars that have broken out. Therefore, it is of paramount importance for companies to take actions so as to cope with the predicament and reduce their costs in order to be able to remain profitable. Amongst other solutions for lowering the costs lies the change of the way that companies purchase their services and materials, by utilizing new technologies. More and more companies worldwide seem to use electronic auctions as the new tool of procurement professionals that brings benefits not only to companies acting as buyers, but also to suppliers. The purpose of this master thesis is twofold; one aspect involves the description of e-auctions, this contemporary way of running competitive biddings, including their different types, their benefits and drawbacks, the available platforms to run them and adaptation of end-to-end purchasing process when using them, whereas the other one focuses on finding the adoption of e-auctions by companies of private sector in Greece of 2022, along with the benefits reaped, the reasons of non-usage and others. The first purpose will be served mainly through secondary research in the current bibliography and articles, while the second one through primary research in procurement professionals of private sector companies in Greece, with the usage of a questionnaire. Collected raw data are going to be analyzed with SPSS using various statistical methods.
