Brain Computer Interfaces: Real world applications and Future promises

    Περίληψη
Recent advances in electroencephalography (EEG) technology  has proven really successful, over the years, in the measurement and analysis of brain functions with a significant contribution in studying a variety of mental and neurological diseases. The success in decoding the brain waves of the EEG gave rise to a much broader variety of non-invasive Brain-Computer interfacing (BCI) applications that allows severely paralyzed people to control computer applications and even act independently and socialize. EEG-based BCIs are highly dependent on the stimulation rendered by various visual, auditory and somatosensory stimuli. This talk will address techniques for decoding brain activity modulations occurring in the visual cortex after encountering repeated visual stimuli, will refer to typical machine learning and modern deep learning classification schemes, and present navigation applications in real environments.
