The Applied Geophysics Laboratory of the School of Mining and Metalurgical Engineering of National Technical University of Athens
(NTUA) in collaboration with EAGE-Local Chapter-Greece and the Student Chapters: “NTUA-EAGE”, “NTUA-SEG” organize a lecture
on 22 November 2019 at 9:00 in the “Multimedia Hall” of NTUA in Zografou University Campus, by
Dr. Bjorn P. Wygrala (Petroleum Systems Business Development at the Schlumberger Aachen Technology Center) with the following
topics:
1. The Global Energy Transition: Key results from recent market reports and their implications for
global energy supply and demand to 2050. The goal is to provide an overview of the current status and
future trends, and where to find information.
2. Best Practices in Geoscience Investigations for Petroleum Exploration: A case study of a rigorous
regional geological assessment to show the required investigations and workflows in petroleum
exploration.
3. Assessments of Undiscovered Resources: A case study of an assessment of an entire country (India)
to determine the undiscovered (Yet-to-Find) oil and gas resources in every basin. The goal is to obtain a
realistic assessment of the potential resources to enable strategic planning of future energy supply
strategies. A discussion of how this could be undertaken in Greece will be included.
