Professor Nikolaos Bourbakis (IEEE Fellow 96) received his BS degree in mathematics from the National University of Athens, Athens, Greece, and his Ph.D. in computer science and computer engineering, from the Department of Computer Engineering & Informatics, University of Patras, Patras, Greece, in 1983. He currently is a Distinguished Professor in Information Technology, Professor of Geriatrics School of Medicine and the Director of the Center of Assistive Research Technologies (CART) at Wright State University, OH. He pursues research in Computer Security, Assistive Technologies, Applied AI, Machine Vision, Biometrics, Bioengineering, Information Security, and Parallel/Distributed Processing funded by USA and European government and industry. He has extensively published articles in refereed International Journals, book-chapters and Conference Proceedings. He has graduated 28 PhDs and 40 Master students. He is the founder and the EIC of the International Journal on AI Tools, the Journal of Monitoring & Surveillance Tech Research, the Founder and General Chair of several International IEEE Computer Society Conferences, Symposia and Workshops. His research work has been internationally recognized and has won several prestigious awards (IBM, IEEE Computer Society, Pattern Recognition Society, ASC, SETN Research Recognition, Universities, other).
