Την Τετάρτη 17/1/2018 στις 12:30, στην αίθουσα 137.Π39 (Κτίριο Επιστημών, Πολυτεχνειούπολη), θα δοθεί ομιλία με τίτλο "Vibration control of smart structures using fuzzy and neuro-fuzzy control strategies", από τον κ. Γεώργιο Ταϊρίδη.
Περίληψη: Τhe research activity of Dr. Tairidis deals with vibration control of smart composite structures, and more specifically with the optimization in the design of these structures along with the implementation and the incorporation of intelligent fuzzy and neuro-fuzzy control systems. Different models of smart multilayer composite structures such as beams and plates with sensors and actuators of piezoelectric materials have been studied under dynamic external loadings. For the development of the controllers, fuzzy inference tools, as well as adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference systems, which in turn integrate artificial neural networks, have been used. Moreover, the characteristics of the controllers were tuned by using genetic algorithms and particle swarm optimization to improve efficiency and robustness. Recently, during his post-doctoral research, which has been recently completed, Dr. Tairidis studied on the development of piezoelectric shunt circuits, attached to smart structures for the passive control of vibrations. It was also made an attempt to tune these systems with intelligent control techniques based on fuzzy and neuro-fuzzy inference.
Σύντομο Βιογραφικό σημείωμα: Dr. Georgios Tairidis has received his Engineering Diploma in 2005 from the Dept. of Production Engineering and Management of Democritus University of Thrace. In 2009 he fulfilled M.Sc. studies at the School of Production Engineering and Management of the Technical University of Crete and focused on smart control. In 2016 he finished his Ph.D. studies at the same School, dealing with the optimal design of smart structures with intelligent control. After his Ph.D. he worked on a post-doctoral research on vibration control of smart composite structures using shunt piezoelectric systems and neurofuzzy techniques at the technical University of Crete, through the program “IKY Fellowships of excellence for postgraduate studies in Greece – Siemens Program”. Currently he continues his post-doctoral research at the Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers at Paris working on vibration control of smart composite structures using shunt piezoelectric systems and fuzzy techniques with a fellowship of the French Embassy for young researchers. During his postgraduate studies, he has participated in several research programs and he has authored several relative papers in scientific journals and international conferences. He also has some quality contribution to book chapters, as well as some teaching experience from the stand alone teaching of courses at the Technical University of Crete and at the Technical Educational Institute of Crete.
