Two professors of the Technical University of Crete (TUC), Apostolos Voulgarakis (School of CEE) and Michalis Doumpos (School of PEM), surpassed the 10,000 citations to their published research by other researchers, according to Google Scholar, which in January 2023 shows 11,229 citations for Dr. Voulgarakis (h-index: 45) and 11,114 references for Mr. Doumbos (h-index: 61). It is a special achievement, which they reached after the current professors Konstantinos Zopounidis and Minos Garofalakis, the emeritus professors Markos Papageorgiou (20,000+ citations) and Nikolaos Kalogerakis, and the former professors Konstantinos Synolakis and Georgios Giannakakis. These achievements confirm once again the high-quality research work produced by TUC faculty members.
