The International Groundwater Resources Assessment Centre (IGRAC-UNESCO centre) since 2003 facilitates and promotes sharing of information and knowledge required for sustainable groundwater resources development and management worldwide.
Recently, “National groundwater monitoring programmes: A global overview of quantitative groundwater monitoring networks” (by Claudia Ruz Vargas and Neno Kukuric), was published, where country profiles are presented. Τhe profile of Greece was presented with the active involvement and contribution of Dr. Emmanouil Varouchakis and the support of Prof. George Karatzas of the School of Environmental Engineering of the Technical University of Crete.
