Professor Emeritus and former Rector of the Technical University of Crete, Yannis A. Phillis, upon invitation was elected Fellow of the Asia-Pacific Artificial Intelligence Association (AAIA), located in Hong Kong.

AAIA is a non-profit, non-governmental organization of academics worldwide whose interests are related to artificial intelligence. Its aims are to promote the development, applications and ethics of AI in different areas of science and technology via academic research and scientific education, as well as other relevant means. AAIA is an interdisciplinary organization which "gathers top scientists in different disciplines that can be combined with AI".
