On November 14, 2023, the project "DEEP-REBAYES / Rethinking Equilibria: Deep GNNs-based, Bayes-Stable Strategic Decision-Making under Uncertainty in Heterogeneous Multiagent Environments" kicked-off, focusing on basic research in Artificial Intelligence, and with School of ECE Professor Georgios Chalkiadakis as its Principal Investigator.
DEEP-REBAYES envisions redefining the way we understand concepts of strategic equilibrium and paving the way to the discovery of new, meaningful, and practical concepts of rationality, so as to enable computationally tractable effective strategic deliberations in uncertain multiagent environments. To this end, innovative algorithms will be developed that will intertwine Machine Learning with Game Theory.
This research can find application in various domains of immense economic and social significance (such as the stock market and finance, energy markets, auction settings) and in practically every multiagent domain that requires strategic decision making under uncertainty.
The research project is implemented in the framework of HFRI call "Basic research Financing (Horizontal support of all Sciences)" under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan "Greece 2.0" funded by the European Union - NextGenerationEU (HFRI Project Number: 15430). The proposal was selected for funding after a competitive evaluation process, in which only 21 proposals out of a total of 136 were selected for funding (15.5% acceptance rate).
More information on the project is available on the related project site at https://www.intelligence.tuc.gr/deep-rebayes/
This is the third project that is funded by HFRI and has a Professor from the School of ECE as its Principal Investigator. The two previous projects were approved for funding by HFRI and started in 2020 and 2022 and had as Principal Investigators Prof. Aggelos Bletsas and Associate Professor Nikolaos Bekiaris-Liberis, respectively.
