EURECA-PRO: Invited Lecture by Adrian Florea (Univ of Petrosani) | 27.11.2024

The Technical University of Crete (TUC), proud member of the European University on Responsible Consumption and Production (EURECA-PRO), organizes a series of open scientific lectures in the context of faculty exchange visits.

The next lecture will be delivered by Dr. Adrian Florea, Associate Professor in the Faculty of Mining, Department of Environmental Engineering and Geology, University of Petroşani, Romania. Dr. Florea will be visiting TUC for the whole week starting the 25th of November 2024, meeting members of the TUC Faculty and Staff, especially in the School of Mineral Resources Engineering. Dr. Florea is visiting TUC with funding and support from the ERASMUS+ Staff Mobility for Teaching program.

Dr. Florea’s lecture is titled:

"GEOVIA Surpac Applications in Slope Stability Analysis and Air Quality Modelling"

and is scheduled to take place on:

Wednesday, November 27, 2024 at 11:00 EET (10:00 CET)

and can be attended either physically or virtually:

Lecture Hall Μ4.003 (School of MRE @ TUC Campus

Live stream will be available through the official TUC Facebook page.

The lecture is open to all interested members of TUC and EURECA-PRO.

Abstract

The first part of the lecture is dedicated to a case study of slope stability analysis in the Ruschita marble quarry located in the Poiana Rusca Mountains, Romania, in operation since 1883 and reveals how the tools available in Surpac facilitate the construction of the geological model, underlying the stability analysis carried out with the help of the Slide 3 application from the Rocscience package. The second part of the lecture is dedicated to a case study of modeling the air pollutants dispersion in Petrosani city with METI-LIS software and use of GEOVIA Surpac in order to increase the results accuracy.
