Two earth structures workshops have been completed during the Winter Semester of 2022. The workshops are the outcome of collaboration between the School of Architecture of the Technical University of Crete (TUC) and the French Center for Training of Eco Constructions, Noria et Compagnie, France, within the framework of the Erasmus+ program.
Two different building techniques with natural materials were elaborated both theoretically and practically:
- STRAW AND EARTH, October 17-21, 2022
- WATTLE AND DAUB, October 24-28, 2022
The workshops took place in the village of Vafes in Apokoronas, Crete. The works carried out contributed to the restoration of an old stone school in the village.
The coordination of the workshop was successful thanks to Mary Jamin and Eric Roger, Trainers of Noria et Compagnie, Maria Mandalaki, Assistant Professor of the School of Architecture of the Technical University of Crete, as well as Angeliki Pappa and Alexandra Sdraka, students of the TUC School of Architecture.
The TUC School of Architecture would like to thank all the participants of the seminar for their hard work and their cooperation at all levels, as well as the residents of Vafes village for their generous hospitality.
