Between 20 and 29 of July 2022, the student organization BEST-Chania organized the 2022 Summer Seminar titled "ConVert or ConServe: The Energy Edition", which took place at the Technical University of Crete (TUC). The academic part of the seminar was organized and taught by Dimitrios Ipsakis, Assistant Professor of the School of Production Engineering and Management at TUC. The lectures, workshops, lab tours and project work of the seminar focused on the training of young engineers and scientists from various European countries, as well as Canada, in the subjects of energy economics, environment protection and the urgent need to utilize "green" technologies.
Supplementary lectures, apart from the academic leader Dimitrios Ipsakis, were delivered also by: Andreas Yiotis (Assistant Professor, School of MRE, TUC), Evangelia Krassadaki (Laboratory Teaching Personnel, School of PEM, TUC), Ioannis Katsigiannis (Assistant Professor, Department of ECE, HMU), Theocharis Tsoutsos (Professor, School of CEE, TUC), Panagiotis Partsinevelos (Professor, School of MRE, TUC), Savvas Piperidis (Laboratory Teaching Personnel, School of PEM, TUC), Sofia-Eirini Chatoutsidou (Researcher, School of CEE, TUC), and Victor Kouloumpis (Researcher, School of PEM, TUC).
At the same time, the participating students had the chance to be part of a complementary program of cultural and social events, while they had the opportunity to enjoy a Cretan feast with local dishes, music and dances.
The seminar was implemented with the generous support of the BEST-Chania office and the tireless student support team, as well as with the support of the Rectorate of the Technical University of Crete. The seminar was successfully completed on July 29, 2022 and all participants left with the best impressions from TUC, Chania and Crete.
