Εμφάνιση ενός Νέου - DO NOT DELETE

Για μία ακόμη χρονιά, το Πολυτεχνείο Κρήτης είναι μεταξύ των Ελληνικών Πανεπιστημίων, που επιλέχθηκαν από το Greek Diaspora Fellowship Program (GDFP) στον 4ο κύκλο για να φιλοξενήσουν καταξιωμένους Έλληνες ακαδημαϊκούς της διασποράς ώστε να διδάξουν, να συνεργαστούν με φοιτητές, να παράξουν ερευνητικό έργο και να αναπτύξουν εκπαιδευτικά προγράμματα στην Ελλάδα, ευνοώντας με αυτόν τον τρόπο την πνευματική κινητικότητα και την αντιστροφή του φαινομένου brain drain.

Μεταξύ των 36 ερευνητικών προγραμμάτων που επιλέχθηκαν στον 4ο κύκλο του GDFP, δύο πρoγράμματα θα υλοποιηθούν στο Πολυτεχνείο Κρήτης εντός του έτους 2021, ένα στη Σχολή Ηλεκτρολόγων Μηχανικών και Μηχανικών Υπολογιστών και ένα στη Σχολή Μηχανικών Παραγωγής και Διοίκησης, με τα στοιχεία που ακολουθούν.

Petros Spachos received the Diploma degree in Electronic and Computer Engineering from the Technical University of Crete, Greece, and the M.A.Sc. and the Ph.D. degree, both in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Toronto, Canada. He was a post-doctoral researcher at the University of Toronto from September 2014 to July 2015. Since August 2015, he has been an Assistant Professor in the School of Engineering, University of Guelph, Canada. His research interests include experimental wireless networking and mobile computing with the focus on wireless sensors networks for smart cities and Internet of Things. He is involved in protocol design, real world experimentation and performance analysis and he is the director of GryPHone Lab. He is a senior member of the IEEE.

Dr. Manousiouthakis received his Diploma, M.S., and Ph.D. degrees all in Chemical Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens (1981) and the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (1985, 1986) respectively. Dr. Manousiouthakis has over 130 refereed journal publications, 2 patents, numerous conference publications and presentations, and has supervised 16 PhD students, many of which are in academic positions. He has received the NSF Presidential Young Investigator Award (1988), the Northrop Outstanding Junior Faculty Research Award (1989) the AIChE Ted Petersen Best Student Paper Award (Co-author 1998, Co-author 2001), a UCLA/AIChE Student Chapter Award (2007), the AIChE Environmental Division Cecil Award (2010), the UCLA/AIChE Student Chapter Professor of the Year Award (2011), he is an AIChE fellow (2012), and has received the AIChE Sustainable Engineering Forum Research Excellence In Sustainable Engineering Award (2014). He has been at UCLA since 1985, where he currently holds the rank of Distinguished Professor. He has served as Department Vice-Chair and Chair, Chair of the UCLA Academic Senate Committee on Committees, Co-Chair of the UCLA Teaching Assessment Committee, Co-Director of the UCLA Process/Control Systems Engineering Consortium, and Director of the UCLA Hydrogen Engineering Research Consortium. He is considered the father of mass integration (mass exchange network synthesis) and of the globally optimal process network synthesis conceptual framework termed IDEAS. He is an expert on Green-Engineering/Sustainability, Systems Engineering, and the Hydrogen Economy.

Σύντομη περιγραφή του προγράμματος Greek Diaspora Fellowship Program

Ένας μεγάλος αριθμός Ελλήνων ακαδημαϊκών που ζει και εργάζεται στο εξωτερικό επιθυμεί να επιστρέψει, έστω προσωρινά, στην Ελλάδα, να συνεργαστεί με ελληνικά Πανεπιστήμια και να μοιραστεί τις γνώσεις και την εμπειρία του με φοιτητές της χώρας μας. Αυτή την πόρτα έχει ανοίξει, εδώ και μερικά χρόνια, το πρόγραμμα ακαδημαϊκών ανταλλαγών Greek Diaspora Fellowship Program (GDFP) σε περισσότερους από 120 υπότροφους Έλληνες επιστήμονες της διασποράς, από τις χώρες Η.Π.Α., Καναδάς, Νότια Αφρική και Νέα Ζηλανδία. Το πρόγραμμα ακαδημαϊκών ανταλλαγών GDFP πραγματοποιείται από το Ιnstitute of International Education (IIE) και το Ίδρυμα Fulbright στην Ελλάδα, με την υποστήριξη του Ιδρύματος Σταύρος Νιάρχος (ΙΣΝ). Το GDFP είναι ανοικτό σε όλους τους ακαδημαϊκούς κλάδους.
