Την Πέμπτη 18/6/2015 πραγματοποιήθηκε ομιλία με θέμα «Indoor environmental quality and energy efficiency» από τον Dr Stefano Schiavon, Assistant Professor of Architecture, του Πανεπιστημίου UC Berkeley (Center of Built Environment), στην Πολυτεχνειούπολη.
Περίληψη ομιλίας:
We spend most of our time in built spaces that substantially affect our health, well-being, productivity, energy usage and overall environmental impact. Buildings are also one of the major energy users and contributors to climate change. My research is aimed towards improving the performance of buildings in terms of their energy consumption, indoor environmental quality, and overall impact on the environment and people. In this presentation I will give an overview of recent research on occupant satisfaction, focusing on the parameters that affect the most our satisfaction indoor and on the difference between green and non-green buildings. I will propose the need for personal comfort systems and a shift from air base to water based mechanical systems. At the end, I will describe Visiting Scholar opportunity at the Center for the Built Environment at UC Berkeley.
Σύντομο βιογραφικό:
Stefano’s research is focused on finding ways to reduce energy consumption in buildings and, at the same time, increase occupant’s health, well-being and productivity. Stefano worked on underfloor air distribution, radiant-hydronic systems, air movement, thermal comfort, indoor environmental quality, energy simulation and assessment. At the University of Padova, Italy, he received a PhD in Energy Engineering, and a MS in Mechanical Engineering. He has been a visiting scholar at Tsinghua University and DTU. He received the 2010 REHVA Young Scientist Award and 2013 ASHRAE Ralph Nevins Award.
