Στο πλαίσιο του μαθήματος «Ερευνητικές Διαλέξεις» του Προγράμματος Μεταπτυχιακών Σπουδών της Σχολής Μηχανικών Περιβάλλοντος, την Πέμπτη 07/5 και ώρα 5 μ.μ., έχει προσκληθεί ο Καθηγητής Jan Vymazal, Head of Department of Applied Ecology (Czech University of Life Sciences, Τσεχία) να δώσει διάλεξη υπό τον τίτλο "Types of constructed wetlands for wastewater treatment - Examples from all over the world".
Ο Καθηγητής Jan Vymazal είναι διεθνώς γνωστός και καταξιωμένος στο αντικείμενο της επεξεργασίας υγρών αποβλήτων με την οικολογική μέθοδο των Τεχνητών Υγροβιότοπων.
Σύντομο Βιογραφικό του Καθηγητή Jan Vymazal
Jan Vymazal graduated from the Institute of Chemical Technology in Prague, Czeh Republic in 1980 and received the Ph.D. at ITC in 1985. Between 1985 and 1991 he was affiliated with Water Research Institute in Prague at the department of wastewater treatment. In 1991 Jan joined Duke University Wetland Center, North Carolina, USA as a visiting scholar. During his stay at Duke University until 1993 he focused on the wetland plant communities in Florida Everglades. Between 1994 and 2006 Jan worked as free lance researcher focusing mostly on constructed wetlands for wastewater treatment. In 2007, he joined Faculty of Environmentaal Sciences at the Czech University of Life Sciences in Prague. He is currently a professor and Head of Department of Applied Ecology and vice-rector for research and science. He has been working with constructed wetlands since the late 1980s focusing on removal of organics including micropollutants, nutrients, heavy metals and compartmentalization of these pollutants in the plants. Jan has authored more than 140 papers indexed in Web of Sciences with over 8000 citations and H-index of 39, wrote two books and edited nine books on natural and constructed wetlands.
